News and Updates

Twilight dvd information and Release parties:

Some of you may have already heard or seen that many different stores and websites are coming out with their own version of the Twilight dvd complete with special features and whatnot. The Twilight Lexicon did a beautiful job of summarizing most of the different dvds that are going to be available so I'm just going to post a link to their post.

I will be adding a new poll question related to the dvd release parties so be sure to make your vote!

Also the Director's Notebook is now available for preorder at Amazon.com right here.

New Moon movie news:

90210's AnnaLynne McCord is rumored to play Heidi Volturi in the New Moon movie.
Here's an article from E! online: click here

Poll Results

Poll results are in for the question: Do you think Dakota Fanning would make a good Jane for New Moon? The answers varied a lot more than our polls in the past. Here are the final results:

Yes, she'd be perfect!
62 (46%)

hmmm I'm not sure about that one....
17 (12%)

No, she would never fit the part!!
23 (17%)

She could work, but I was picturing someone else....
32 (23%)

Total Votes: 134

Personally I think she would make a great Jane, especially once she has the red contacts. She's young enough and definitely has experience as an actor. I'm looking forward to viewing her performance in New Moon.

The most recent post is about a Director's Notebook written by Catherine Hardwicke about the production of Twilight. It will be released a few days before the release of the dvd: March 17th.

Just another quick book recommendation: The Girl Who Could Fly by Victoria Forester.

[The image links to Amazon.com, but I noticed that they are almost out of stock, so here are a couple other links: The Girl Who Could Fly at Borders.com and The Girl Who Could Fly at BarnesandNoble.com]

It's the oddest/sweetest mix of Little House on the Prairie and X-Men. I was smiling the whole time (except for the part where I cried). I gave it to my mom, and I'm reading it to my kids—it's absolutely multi-generational. Prepare to have your heart warmed.

Dakota Fanning as Jane??

I think she could do it. Fanning isn't what I pictured as Jane, but she has the potential to do it. I'll be posting a poll on the side for you guys to vote. If you don't think she would be good for the roll do you have another person you were thinking of? If so, please share in the comments

Younger Dakota (left) Older Dakota (right)

Here is an article from E! on the matter. Click here.

Poll Results

The results are in yet again, this time with a total of 167 votes.  The question was: When would you prefer New Moon the movie to come out?  The most popular vote was that people were indecisive over the matter, just as I thought you guys would be.  Here is the total poll:

ASAP!!! I can't wait much longer!!! Who cares how bad it is??           27 (16%)

I want them to take their time on it and make it a good movie, I
could stand to wait a few extra months                                                  48 (28%)

I could really care less                                                                                   0   (0%)

I want to see it asap but I want it to be good too and take their
time....I can't decide!                                                                                  92 (55%)

Let's cross our fingers!!

Twilight DVD Midnight Release Parties?

Wow, I've never heard of a midnight release party for DvDs. Now I feel like things are going a bit too far with all the hype. Will I end up going at midnight to buy Twilight on DvD to watch deleted scenes and extended footage?? Most likely. Should I??? No, I should wait and be rational and go early morning. But who really wants to be rational?? haha anyway, for those of you that are ecstatic by this news, here is an article from mtv reguarding the DvD release.

Also for those who wish to own it on Blue-ray, it will exclusively be available only at Best Buy and Target for a LIMITED TIME UNTIL MAY 5. So be sure to act quickly on that.

Articles In USA Today on Stephenie Meyer

There were two articles in USA Today that Seth decided to share with us. Here is an update from the Official Site of Stephenie Meyer:

------------------------------------------------------------

January 15, 2009

I really liked both of these articles that came out yesterday in the USA Today:

I love stats like those. And while I'm posting I thought I would add that tonight (Thursday) the band Mutemath (contributor to the Twilight soundtrack) is going to be on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno doing a live performance of "Spotlight." Just FYI.

-----------------------------------------------------------

That really is a big accomplish to have sold that many books in one year. Congrats Stephenie!

Who's playing Jacob Black in New Moon???

Guess what everybody!! They have decided to keep Taylor Lautner on for New Moon to play Jacob Black! For those of you going huh?? there was some speculation going around that Chris Weitz was looking for other people to play our favorite Werewolf. They only were doing this simply because of Taylor's size. Some people were pushing for Michael Copon to play Jake:

(Taylor lautner left, Michael Copon right)

Honestly if this guy had been selected I would feel like part of the character was lost in the movie because the difference between Taylor and Michael is so dramatically different it doesn't even seem like it could be just an older version of Taylor. I'm glad they're keeping Taylor on and hope they do a good job with his size in the movie haha.

Here is the update on the Official Site of Stephenie Meyer reguarding Taylor.

January 7, 2009

Good news about New Moon from director Chris Weitz:

I'm very happy to announce that Taylor Lautner will be playing Jacob Black in New Moon and that he's doing so with the enthusiastic support of Summit Entertainment, the producers, and Stephenie Meyer.

The characters in Stephenie's books go through extraordinary changes of circumstance and also appearance; so it is not surprising that there has been speculation about whether the same actor would portray a character who changes in so many surprising ways throughout the series. But it was my first instinct that Taylor was, is, and should be Jacob, and that the books would be best served by the actor who is emotionally right for the part. I think that fans of Twilight the book and the movie will be surprised by the Jacob Black that Taylor will bring to the screen in New Moon; and I'm looking forward to working with him and the rest of the cast in realizing the film.
very best
Chris Weitz

I'd just like to add that I was very much a part of this decision. My first priority was always what was best for New Moon—what was going to give us the best possible movie. I'm truly thrilled that Taylor was the one who proved to the director, to Summit, and to me that he is the best possible Jacob we could have. And I'm very much looking forward to seeing what he's going to bring to Jacob's character this year.

-------------------------------------------------------------

I hope that they don't rush the film too badly. I know that they want to get it out as fast as possible for the fans and also get their pay-day, but would it hurt them to take a bit more time for it and make it a bit better? We'll have to find out how they do. New Moon is due out November 20 in the US later this year.

DVD cover release and New Moon synopsis

The DvD cover for Twilight has officially been released, but strangely there is no news yet of a release date for the movie itself so don't totally trust a site unless it is definitely proven it is from Summit Entertainment.  As soon as I find out the release date I will be sure to make a post if possible.  Until then, here is the cover art: (click for larger views)

Also the New Moon movie synopsis has been released from Summit Entertainment:
